International artists, Lego, and outdoor swimming… introducing our latest exhibition!

November 6, 2015

Doing anything on the 13th November? No? Good.

Then you have no excuse for missing our latest fundraising exhibition – oh, and it’s also going to be a good one.

Between 13th-26th November 2015, a huge number of established and emerging artists from the North East and beyond will be exhibiting original artwork for sale at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre, North Shields Fish Quay in support of the redevelopment of Tynemouth Outdoor Pool.

It’s high profile, it will be opened by the Mayor, and you’ll also have the chance to get your hands on some brilliant and unique pieces of art.

Works on sale will include the first print of a previously unseen work by internationally renowned photographer and founder member of Amber Film and Photography Collective, Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen, alongside paintings by Jim Edwards, Kate Van Suddese and acclaimed portrait artist Tess Barnes, a sculpture by Joanna Wishart, a large scale collage by Annette Chevallier, two new works by renowned cartoonist Dick Ward and a soundscape by sound artist Rob Antony. While the artwork on display will cover a variety of mediums and artistic approaches, all exhibiting artists share a common aim of helping return the outdoor pool site to its former glory.

What’s more, we’ll also be taking the opportunity to unveil an incredible illuminated model of the future vision for the pool, designed and built completely in Lego by local architectural photographer Steve Mayes. The model will remind visitors to the exhibition what the future holds for the derelict pool on Longsands, and afterwards will be on display at various high profile locations around North Tyneside.

Here’s just a handful of images to give you a taste of what you can expect during the two weeks.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
